We woke up and the ship was almost docked at Baltimore. We left our stateroom for the last time and got some breakfast on the Lido deck. We then sat down here for a few hours until our deck was called for disembarking. We did so, checked in through customs, and picked up our luggage. My dad picked us up and the cruise was over.
This was our first cruise and we really enjoyed it. You are basically paying to stay on a floating resort, which features many of the same things as any vacation destination. The casino was great and we really enjoyed that. The comedy shows were great and better than many we have seen in comedy clubs before. The 24/7 pizza was amazingly good and I took advantage of this quite a bit. While the alcohol is expensive, they have tons of options and the beer selection is good. The iced tea is free and plentiful. The gym, and available classes, are well equipped and can cater to the athletes among us that like to travel. The housekeeping staff makes a towel into a new animal every night and this is really fun to see...this quickly turned in to one of our favorite parts of the cruise!
On this cruise, we hit up Florida, Nassau, and Freeport. The Florida stop is what you make of it...I was very disappointed by Universal and would have had a much better time had we gone to Disney's Hollywood Studios and rode the Tower of Terror a few dozen times, but the Harry Potter area in Universal was really well done and I'm glad we did that. Nassau is amazing and Atlantis could deliver at least a full week of fun and entertainment. If you visit there, keep in mind that Atlantis is a high-end resort that is in/near Nassau and it is NOT Nassau. Our brief stopover in the Green Parrot Bar revealed that and we were very glad we stopped in there, so you should do the same to soak up a little bit of the local culture. Freeport was a tourist trap...if we were there for a longer time and had done more research to take advantage of it, it might have been better, indeed some folks I know that have been there had a great time, but we were quite disappointed.
The cruise was awesome. We will absolutely be back. Thanks, Carnival!
